Uploading and Recording Audio/Video

VocalBrief offers flexible options for adding content to your account. Whether you’re uploading existing files or creating new recordings, this guide will walk you through the process.

  1. How to Upload an Audio, Video, or Text File
    • From your dashboard, click the “Record or Upload” button.
    • On the next page, you’ll see two options: “Upload a File” and “Voice Recorder”.
    • For file upload, either:
      • Drag and drop your file into the designated area, or
      • Click “Select File” to browse and choose your file.
    • Choose the Recording Type (e.g., Business Meeting, Lecture, Podcast).
    • Select the Language of the recording.
    • Click “Submit the Recording” to start the upload process.
  2. Supported File Types and Sizes

    VocalBrief supports a wide range of file types:

    • Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A
    • Video: MP4, AVI, MOV
    • Text: Word documents and PDFs

    There’s no strict file size limit, and the system has been tested with recordings up to 4 hours long. However, larger files may take longer to upload and process.

  3. Using the Built-in Voice Recorder

    From the “Record or Upload” page, click on “Voice Recorder”.

    • Grant microphone permissions if prompted.
    • Click the record button to start recording.
    • When finished, click stop.
    • Play back your recording to check it, then select the Recording Type and Language.
    • Click “Submit the Recording” to upload.
  4. Understanding Upload Status and Processing Time

    After submission:

    • You’ll be redirected to the “My Recordings” page.
    • Your upload will appear with a “Processing” status.
    • Processing can take up to 15 minutes, depending on the file size and system load.
    • Once processing is complete, you’ll receive an email notification with a direct link to your processed recording.
